Elliot Ihm

Elliott Ihm is a cognitive scientist studying religious, spiritual, and other non-ordinary experiences as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research explores interactions between perception, cognition, and cultural practices in the causation and interpretation of such experiences. Toward this end, Elliott co-developed a survey validation method called Response Process Evaluation (RPE), which allows researchers to efficiently identify misunderstandings, revise items, and collect evidence that items are understood as intended by the target population. Elliott also runs the YouTube channel Ihm Curious, which explores recent developments in neuroscience, neurotechnology, and consciousness science.
